Tick season is here -- and vets say your cat faces a deadly new threat
Veterinarians are warning cat owners that house cats are now at risk for "bobcat fever," a deadly tick-borne disease previously seen mostly in bobcats. The illness causes lethargy, loss of appetite, high fever, and yellowing skin, and can infect domestic cats after only a few hours with an infected tick. With a survival rate of just sixty percent, early detection and prevention are crucial, and treatment may involve medications like Bravecto and Revolution Plus.
