Detroit’s Ford Fireworks curfew proposal moves forward as City Council prepares to vote
Detroit police have proposed a temporary curfew restricting minors in parts of downtown and along the riverfront during the annual Ford Fireworks, citing recent incidents at mass gatherings as justification. The curfew, which would require minors to be accompanied by a parent or guardian from 8 p.m. on June 22 to 6 a.m. the next day, has drawn mixed reactions from residents but was moved forward by the City Council’s Public Health and Safety Committee without a recommendation. The full City Council is scheduled to vote on the measure at an upcoming meeting.
