Bloody selfies, witness testimony sends Royal Oak nanny to trial in grandfather’s murder
Samantha Booth, a Royal Oak nanny, has been ordered to stand trial on charges including first-degree murder, child abuse, assault, and resisting police after the death of 83-year-old David Ong, the grandfather of the child she cared for. Witnesses described chaotic scenes in which Booth, covered in blood, allegedly attacked family members and acted erratically, while police testified she appeared to be in a mental health crisis. Graphic evidence included bloody selfies with the 2-year-old child and disturbing behavior both at the scene and in custody. Despite her attorney's argument of a manic episode, the judge determined there was sufficient evidence for Booth to face all charges.
