$81 million plan aims to end 14 Mile Road water main breaks in Oakland County

The Great Lakes Water Authority has announced an $81 million project to improve the water main along 14 Mile Road in Oakland County after frequent breaks caused major disruptions in recent years. The project will be completed in two phases, beginning with the replacement of three miles of aging pipe and followed by inspection and renewal work, including the installation of advanced monitoring technology. Construction is set to start in November 2026 and is expected to impact traffic, though water service should remain largely unaffected. Public open houses will be held to keep affected communities informed.
