Sunny, warm Friday ahead for Metro Detroit

Highs just above 80

DETROIT – Friday and the weekend feel more like summer. The sun will shine brightly, but storms come along for the ride for families with APBA Gold Cup plans.

Friday morning will be cool and crisp with temperatures in the 50s. The air will be invigorating for golfers with an early tee time, tennis players with early matches or campers getting a fresh start to the day. Skies will be blue.

Abundant sunshine remains for APBA Gold Cup the entire day. Humidity will be comfortably seasonable and the wind will be light over the Detroit River and around Belle Isle; 6 to 12 mph out of the east-northeast. It will be warm with highs just above 80 degrees. Spectators and anyone outdoors for a long time still need to drink plenty of water, wear light and loose-fitting clothes and apply sun screen. Wearing sunglasses is a good idea, too.

Friday night will be fair and mild with lows in the 60s.

Saturday and Sunday will be warmer and more humid. Daytime temps will reach the low and middle 80s each day. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, but the weekend will not be a wash-out. Saturday afternoon and Sunday will be partly sunny with some heavy downpours, lightning and gusty winds. When it is not raining on the hydroplanes, the wind will blow from the south and southwest at 6 to 12 mph.

Monday remains warm with a chance of wet weather and highs in the low 80s. Sunshine returns Tuesday and Wednesday and highs go back to the 70s; no heat wave with 90s, so far.
