Metro Detroit weather: Sunshine for most of this week

DETROIT – We are waking up to temperatures in the 30s and mostly 40s around Metro Detroit making for a cool start to your Tuesday.

We have clear skies and will have wall-to-wall sunshine through this afternoon. Slightly cooler air is moving in from the north, so highs will stop in the upper 60s which is normal or average for this time of year.

Winds will shift from the ENE to ESE 5-12 mph today keeping that cooler air coming off the big lakes on the east side.  Enjoy the sunshine today, but if you cannot, we have more on tap for the next several days.

Wednesday forecast

Wednesday will be a mirror image of today, so get ready for more cool or chilly nights ahead as we dip again into the 30s and 40s first thing tomorrow. More sunshine will help our highs get into the mid and upper 60s with a few of you hitting 70°F both today and tomorrow.

Thursday forecast

Thursday will be another great Fall day bringing cool 40s in the morning into the low 70s as we head into the afternoon.  Friday will start sunny in the 50s, and then hit the low 70s in the early afternoon before clouds begin to move in.

Rain showers will be moving in either in the late afternoon, or in the evening which may impact your Friday night plans and football games. We'll keep you posted as we get closer

Weekend forecast

Computer model data shows rain late Friday into Saturday morning before clearing. Cooler air will be pumping in behind the cold front bringing the late week showers. So there's a good chance that we don't get out of the 50s all weekend with 30s and low 40s cooling us even more in the weekend overnight hours.

Sunday may be a little brighter than Saturday, but we should see a balance of sun and clouds, and gusty winds, all weekend. It looks like a dry and cool Columbus Day Monday.
