Metro Detroit weather: Cold, partly cloudy weekend

DETROIT – Enjoy some beautiful Friday sunshine, but you’re best bet is to do it from the comfort of your home or your car so grab the shades.

Unfortunately, this unusual cool down is compounded by a pesky breeze WNW 5-15 mph dropping wind chills into the 20s to low 30s the rest of the day with sunshine giving way to partly cloudy skies after 3 or 4pm. Afternoon highs are in the mid to upper 30s with a few of you seeing 40°F perhaps, but again it feels much cooler. And temps will dip into the 20s again tonight if you have any outdoor plans including playoff high school football tonight. Bundle up baby!

More and more clouds slide in overnight into Saturday which keeps morning lows from dipping into the teens. We will wake up to lows in the mid 20s under mostly cloudy skies as snow showers move across Central and Northern Lower Michigan early tomorrow. We will see partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 30s to low 40s tomorrow afternoon for all of SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario with a bit more sunshine after 3pm.

Winds will again pick up from time to time SW 5-15 mph gusting 20-30 mph at times, so it’s a good day to do yard work as long as you layer up a bit. A light, scattered wintry mix is possible after 9 or 10pm Saturday through the overnight and is out of Metro Detroit by 8 or 9am Sunday. Sunday will be a bit more mild with lows in the mid 30s and highs in the mid 40s under partly sunny skies and that stubborn breeze making it feel colder WSW 7-17 mph.

Monday is Veteran’s Day and it looks like cold and snow will return as we head back to work and school. It should be all snow as temps fall back into the low and mid 30s with scattered snow showers that could leave light accumulations in a few spots. Stay tuned.

Look for scattered snow lingers into early Tuesday before it dries out for most of the day. Metro Detroit will then see and feel more bone chilling cold most of Monday through Friday with temps mainly in the teens to low 20s early, and highs in the low to mid 30s at best.
