Metro Detroit weather: What to expect this weekend

Skies should begin to break apart more so in the late afternoon and evening Friday.

Clearing skies overnight will lead to teens for many of you early tomorrow morning.

Saturday forecast

It’s going to be cold in Ann Arbor Saturday for Michigan State vs. Michigan football at noon. Prepare for temps in the 20s for tailgating and wind chills that may still feel like teens at times without much of a breeze. Layer up in your best Maze and Blue or Green and White for the big game and enjoy a pretty looking day. Highs will only reach the lower 30s with a blend of sun and clouds through your Saturday afternoon and winds ENE 5-12 mph keep it feeling like the 20s as that sun glares off of the lingering snowpack.

Sunday forecast

Sunday will be a nice day too with sun and clouds and numbers very similar to Saturday except for a little more warmth in the afternoon as highs hit the upper 30s Sunday afternoon while a few of you hit 40°F.

Next week

Our Metro Detroit weather stays dry Monday too as skies fill with clouds and temps warm into the lower 40s. The weather becomes more unsettled Tuesday through Thursday next week with minor chances for a little wintry mix and rain Tuesday and Wednesday as highs are in the low to mid 40s and a lot of that snowpack fades away.

Model data suggests a larger storm moving in Thursday morning with rain, but as cooler air moves in on the back side of the storm, it may finish as a wintry mix or snow showers late Thursday.

We will keep a close eye on that and keep you posted with more detailed information on our Local4Casters App and on Local 4 News as we get closer. You can get your 7-Day Forecast and track our next storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
