Tracking rain, warmup in Metro Detroit: What to know this week

Rain chances arrive at end of week

4Warn Weather – Our Tuesday begins cloudy and cool with temperatures on either side of freezing.

Don’t forget the sunglasses as you head out the door today. There are better chances for sun today for the bulk of Southeast Michigan.

Today’s sunrise is at 7:42 a.m.

Clouds will give way to sunshine through the day. Highs will be in the low 40s, about 10 degrees above average.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:54 p.m.

Warming up + rain

The warming trend will continue for the rest of the week. We could see record breaking temperatures to end the work week. We are looking at highs in the 50s on Thursday and Friday.

Our next rain chances arrive late on Thursday. We expect widespread rain to build into our region moving west to east, covering all of Metro Detroit by 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.

The rain isn’t expected to be too heavy.

Showers will continue into Friday morning, and then become scattered throughout the day. The wet weather should fizzle out by the late afternoon on Friday.

Elsewhere ...

Out West, an atmospheric river will continue to bring flooding rains, strong winds, coastal flooding and high surf to southern California on Tuesday. Heavy snow will continue across the Sierra.
