Could it finally really be spring in Michigan?!

The National Weather Service and NOAA released their weekly updated weather outlook guidance for the next 8-14 days across the country. The predictions are based on probability vs. normal averages, and can help show possible trends in the longer range forecast.

Here’s what the outlook released on April 8, 2024 says about Michigan. The outlook is valid from April 16-22, 2024.

Michigan temperature outlook for mid-April

  • The NOAA outlook shows a strong chance -- in the 50-70% range -- that Michigan sees above average temps in this April timeframe, which means there’s a good chance we stay in the spring temp range or above.
  • The average high temp in April in Detroit is 58 degrees.

Michigan precipitation outlook for mid-April

  • The NOAA outlook shows a 33-40% chance that Michigan, and most of the Great Lakes region and Midwest, sees above average precipitation for the April timeframe.
  • On average, Detroit sees about 3.2 inches of rain in April
