Here’s what the outlook released on April 18, 2024 says about Michigan. The outlook is valid for the entire month of May.

  • The NOAA outlook calls for a 50-60% chance for all of Michigan to see above average temps, meaning there’s a good chance we’ll see warmer-than-average weather for May, along with the entire Great Lakes region and Pacific Northwest.
    • The average high temp in Detroit on May is 69 degrees.

Michigan precipitation outlook for May 2024

  • The NOAA outlook shows equal chances for average precipitation for all of Michigan in May, which means it’s likely we’ll see around the normal amount of rain we get for the month.
    • Detroit averages about 3.7 inches of rain in May, amounting to about 8 rainy days.
