4Warn Weather – It is not your imagination. The sky is smoky.
The smoke from Canadian wildfires led to Metro Detroit experiencing “unhealthy” air quality, one of the worst in the world, on Thursday.
An Air Quality Advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until noon on Friday.
The air quality is expected to begin improving on Thursday night, but it will remain poor through Friday morning.
The polluted air could cause coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, dizziness, and a burning sensation in the nose, throat, and mouth.
It is recommended to limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous outdoor activity. People should also keep windows closed during the advisory.
Friday night
The widely scattered rain showers will come to an end on Friday night, but the clouds and smoke will stick around. Lows will range from 50 to near 60 degrees.
Lows will be near 50 in Lapeer and Sandusky. Expect lows in the mid-50s in Ann Arbor, Howell, Milford, Troy, Rochester Hills, Clinton Township, and Warren.
It will be in the upper-50s in Adrian, Monroe, Dearborn, and Allen Park. Winds will be out of the north-northeast at around five mph.
Friday’s weather will lean toward mostly cloudy. A few sprinkles will be possible, especially south of I-94, but most of Metro Detroit will stay dry. Temperatures will peak in the mid-70s.
Friday night will be mostly cloudy with decreasing clouds. Lows will be in the lower to mid-50s.

Heading to the Motor City Irish Festival in Livonia, Motor City Pride in Downtown Detroit, or a Tigers game this weekend?
Skies will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the 70s, on Saturday and Sunday.
After a dry Saturday, rain showers are expected to move into Metro Detroit on Sunday afternoon and evening.
