Unhealthy air quality lingers across Southeast Michigan

Air quality advisory in effect until noon Friday

DETROIT – An air quality advisory remains in effect for most of Metro Detroit.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) shows unhealthy levels across the heart of Metro Detroit. Areas like Flint are experiencing more moderate conditions, but the advisory has been lifted in Livingston, Genesee, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties.

For the rest of Southeast Michigan, the advisory has now been extended until midnight tonight.

Friday

Detroit ranks among the top cities worldwide for the poorest air quality Friday morning, which is unhealthy for all groups.

Dry conditions are expected for the majority of Metro Detroit on Friday, although a few isolated pop-up showers remain possible this afternoon, south of M-59.

Highs will top out about five degrees below average, in the low 70s today.

This Weekend

High pressure will bring us more sunshine on Saturday with seasonal upper 70s. Rain chances return Sunday night through Monday, with slightly below average temperatures in the 70s.

Next Week

A warm-up will ensue for the second half of the week with temperatures rising back into the 80s.
