Damaging winds, flash flooding possible Friday evening

4Warn Weather – Thunderstorm chances return to Metro Detroit on Friday, and there’s a chance they could become severe.

Heat and humidity are on the rise and Metro Detroit is under a slight risk for severe storms -- a level 2 out of 5.

The window for severe storms is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

The most likely threats that come with these storms are damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and localized flash flooding with heavy downpours.

Weekend weather forecast

Temperatures cool into the mid-80s Saturday with decreasing clouds and slightly lower humidity before climbing back toward 90 degrees Sunday and Monday as humidity rises as well.

Next week’s weather

Another cold front brings chances for showers and thunderstorms on Monday. We will then fall into the seasonal mid-80s for the remainder of next week.
