More sunshine, heat and humidity for Metro Detroit before storm chances return Monday

Drier and less humid air moves into the region for the middle of next week

Showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast looking ahead into the start of the week (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After some clouds to start the day on Saturday, we broke into lots of sunshine and it felt very comfortable through the day. But we will keep the sunshine around, but bring in more heat and humidity for the end of the weekend.

With high pressure firmly in control the forecast, we will keep the sunshine into the forecast for the end of the weekend on Sunday. But expect more heat and more humidity to move into the region by the end of the weekend as well. High temperatures heading back into the lower 90s by Sunday afternoon, but once you factor in the humidity, we are expecting heat index values to go back into the low of mid 90s by Sunday afternoon.

Our next cold front moves into the region looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday. This will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. High temperatures heading into the middle 80s by Monday afternoon.

Some storms could be strong to possibly severe on Monday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed part of the region under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) on our severe weather scale. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall would be the primary threats as we work into the beginning of the week.

Once that cold front rolls through the region, this will bring an extended break from the heat and humidity looking ahead into most of next week. Expect plenty of sunshine to stick around Tuesday all the way through Thursday. High temperatures remaining in the middle 80s for the middle of next week.

We keep the dry weather into the forecast looking ahead into the end of the week on Friday for the Fourth of July before our chances of showers and thunderstorms increase looking ahead into the start of next weekend. High temperatures warming into the 80s on Friday will give way to the lower 90s by the time we get to the start of next weekend on Saturday.
