4Warn Weather – After plenty of sunshine, hot and humid conditions to start the weekend, those conditions continue on Sunday, but we also bring in the chance for showers and thunderstorms to end the weekend as well.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms, roll into the region by the end of the weekend on Sunday, especially in the afternoon and evening. We will keep some sunshine in as we start the day on Sunday, but the summer heat humidity will stick around into the end of the weekend. High temperatures heading into the lower 90s, once you factor in the humidity, expect heat index value to soar into the upper 90s to near 100° once again.
With the chances for showers and thunderstorms, a few of those could be strong to severe. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall will be the primary threats with these storms as they move through the region. This will not be a widespread severe weather event this afternoon and evening, but a few storms could be on the stronger side of things.
We’re also tracking Tropical Storm Chantal, which is forecast to make landfall in the Carolinas by Sunday afternoon. Then the system will slow down and bring the potential of flooding rainfall to portions of North Carolina as well before weakening. Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect along the Carolina coastlines on Sunday morning.
Once the cold front clears the area late on Sunday night into Monday morning, we will keep cloud cover into the forecast to start the week, but we will take the rain and storm chances out of the forecast. High temperatures heading into the middle 80s by Monday afternoon.
Dry weather sticks around by the time we work into Tuesday, before more chances of rain showers and thunderstorms move into the forecast looking ahead into the middle of the week on Wednesday, as well as Thursday. High temperatures remaining seasonable. Expect high temperatures to warm back into the middle 80s by the middle of next week.
Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds to move back into the forecast for the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures remaining in the middle 80s by Friday afternoon. We bring another chance of showers and thunderstorms back into the forecast for the start of next weekend on Saturday, high temperatures remaining in the 80s.
