Drier weather moves into Metro Detroit before next heat wave arrive mid to late week

Heat index values will soar into the upper 90s and lower 100s by the middle and end of next week

Heat index values will soar into the upper 90s and lower 100s by the middle and end of next weekSUNDAY: Mix of sunshine and clouds. High: 82.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear skies. Low: 61.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny skies. High: 81.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear skies. Low: 59.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny skies. High: 83.

After we kept the chance of showers and a few thunderstorms into the forecast last night into the early portions of the overnight, we will keep dry weather into the forecast looking ahead into the end of the weekend.

Any rain showers have moved out before sunrise on Sunday, so we will dry things out for the end of the weekend as high pressure builds back into the region for the end of the weekend. High temperatures remaining into the lower 80s by the end of the weekend on Sunday.

A mixture of sunshine and clouds can be expected as we start next week on Monday, temperatures remaining near where we should be for the end of July heading into the lower 80s on Monday, before mostly cloudy skies can be expected and we start to warm things up once again.

High pressure builds into the region with plenty of sunshine for Tuesday before a little more cloud cover works into the region by Wednesday. High temperatures into the middle 80s on Tuesday give way to the 90s by Wednesday.

Another upper-level ridge of high pressure will build in south of the region. This will act as our heat pump, sending plenty of heat and humidity into the region from Wednesday through the end of next week. High temperatures will soar back into the 90s once again from Thursday and into next Friday, but once you factor in the humidity, we are looking at the potential for another round of heat index values into the upper 90s to possibly lower 100s.

Heat advisories may be needed for the region on Thursday due to the potential for seeing triple digit heat index values with this next heat wave.

With the region also on the edge of that upper-level ridge of high pressure, it puts us in the favorable track for chances for showers and thunderstorms as well, so we will keep those into the forecast from Thursday and into next Friday, as well as the start of next weekend. High temperatures dropping into the upper 80s by the time we get to Saturday,
