Shower & thunderstorm chances continue on Saturday for Metro Detroit; getting hotter by Sunday

Heat index values will soar into the low to mid 90s by the end of the weekend and looking ahead into the start of next week

Showers and thunderstorms will stick around the region for the start of the weekend on Saturday (WDIV)

After a few showers and thunderstorms for some of us to end the week, we are going to keep the chance of showers and thunderstorms into the forecast, looking ahead into the start of the weekend on Saturday.

Cloud cover to stick around throughout the day with chances for showers and thunderstorms. We will be watching for a few of those to be strong to possibly severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas along in south of I-94 under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) looking ahead throughout the day. Damaging wind gusts above 60 miles an hour and heavy rainfall will be the primary threats with any thunderstorm that does develop. High temperatures remaining in the 80s this afternoon. Expect high temperatures in the mode at 80s by Saturday afternoon.

We will keep the chance of showers and a few thunderstorms in through the evening and early overnight hours for Sunday. But after a slight chance of rain showers early, I think the rest of the day will be dry. We will do some sunshine as we had throughout the end of the weekend on Sunday. High temperatures warming in the mid 80s by the end of the weekend. With the continued humidity, we are expecting heat index values to soar into the low to mid 90s by the afternoon as well.

Looking ahead into the start of next week, we will keep the chance of a few thunderstorms as possible in the morning on Monday, other than that, we will see some sunshine as we had through throughout the day. It will be hot and it will be humid throughout the day, expect high temperatures to head back into the 90s with heat index values in the mid upper 90s closing in on 100° by Monday afternoon.

If you’re with your break from the heat and humidity, hold on, we do have one on the way looking ahead into the second half of next week. We will keep the dry weather into the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds both days. High temperature is heading back a little lower 90s by Tuesday, the dropping in the middle 80s by Wednesday.
