Tracking chance of showers, thunderstorms Saturday in Metro Detroit

Some storms could be strong or severe

4Warn Weather – Showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday in Metro Detroit, and there’s a chance that some of those storms could be severe.

Saturday storm chances

Clouds will stick around throughout the day Saturday as the chance for showers and thunderstorms lingers.

We’re watching for a few of those storms to possibly be strong or severe. The Storm Prediction Center has areas along and south of I-94 under a marginal risk for severe weather throughout Saturday -- a level 1 out of 5 risk.

Damaging wind gusts above 60 mph and heavy rainfall are the main threats.

High temperatures remain in the 80s Saturday afternoon.

Rain, storm chances overnight

There’s still a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms through Saturday evening and early into the overnight hours of Sunday.

But after a slight chance of rain showers early, the rest of Sunday should be dry.

There will be some sunshine mixed in, as well.

High temperatures will warm to the mid-80s by the end of the weekend.

With the continued humidity, heat index values Sunday after are expected to sear into the low to mid-90s.

Next week’s weather

A few thunderstorms are possible in the morning on Monday, but otherwise, there should be some sunshine throughout the day. High temperatures head back into the 90s, with heat index values in the mid- to upper 90s and closing in on 100 degrees by the afternoon.

A break from the heat and humidity is on the way for the second half of the workweek.

The forecast is dry on Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect a mixture of sun and clouds both days. High temperatures drop to the lower 90s by Tuesday and the mid-80s Wednesday.

A mix of sunshine and clouds is expected Thursday, giving way to a sunny Friday. High temperatures head into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees by next week.
