Sunshine, heat and humidity return to Metro Detroit for the end of the week

Temperatures head back into the 90s by Saturday; storm chances increase by Sunday

4Warn Weather – After sunshine and a little bit of cloud cover throughout the day on Thursday, we are going to keep the sunshine into the forecast, looking ahead throughout the end of the week and into the start of the upcoming weekend.

Expect mostly sunny skies throughout the day, with a little high cloud cover to be expected from time to time. High temperature is warming back into the mid to upper 80s by the time we get to Friday afternoon.

Expect the sunshine to continue into the start of the weekend on Saturday, but it will be hotter and more humid looking ahead into the start of the weekend. Expect high temperatures to warm into the lower 90s by the time we get to Saturday afternoon, but once you factor in the humidity, expected index values to rise into the mid to upper 90s by Saturday afternoon. If you’re going to be spending any time outside on Saturday, the Woodward Dream Cruise is happening this weekend. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and have that SPF 30 or better at hand throughout the day.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms returned by the time we get to the end of the weekend and start of next week. Expect partly cloudy skies throughout the day on Sunday, with chances for showers and thunderstorms rolling in by the afternoon and evening. High temperature is dropping back into the mid to upper 80s, but we are still expecting heat index values to rise into the 90s for what it will feel like outside by the afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed part of the region under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather on Saturday. Damaging winds will be the primary threat, but frequent lightning and heavy rainfall can be expected if thunderstorms become strong to possibly severe, but I do think these storm chances will be late in the evening and into the overnight.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms continue into the forecast, looking ahead into the end of the weekend on Sunday, before we dry things out, looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday. High temperatures in the upper 80s on Sunday will drop into the mid-80s by Monday.

Another chance of showers and thunderstorms rolls into the region looking ahead into Tuesday, but that also brings in some cooler temperatures to go with it. High temperatures in the lower 80s on Tuesday will stick around into the middle of next week as well. A mixture of sunshine and clouds for Wednesday will give way to mostly sunny skies by the time we get to Thursday.
