A few rain showers are possible with colder air moving into the region Sunday afternoon and evening (WDIV)

MONDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear skies. A chilly overnight. Low: 50. Upper 40s are possible outside the Metro.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny skies. Nice and comfortable. High: 71.

After we had a few thunderstorms, some of which went severe Saturday evening as the cold front rolled into the region, we are going to keep some drier weather and cooler temperatures into the forecast looking ahead into the end of the weekend, and start of next week.

Looking ahead to the end of the weekend on Sunday, we will keep a mixture of sunshine and clouds in the forecast, but the below-average temperatures will start to roll into the region. High temperature is only heading for the mid-70s by Sunday afternoon. With the colder air moving into the region, I am going to hold onto the chance of an isolated rain shower in the afternoon and evening, but most of us will remain dry throughout the day.

We will bring another chance of a few rain showers into the forecast to start next week on Monday, but it is only a slight chance of rain showers. Otherwise, we will see a mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout the day. High temperature is running about 10° or better below average for this time in late August, we will only see the lower 70s by Monday afternoon.

Overnight Monday night into Tuesday morning, and Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will feature temperatures that will drop into the lower 50s in the metro, and I would not be surprised to see some 40s outside of the metro, so you may need that jacket as you’re heading to the bus stop at the start of next week.

An extensive area of high-pressure controls the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, so expect mostly sunny skies both days, before a little more cloud cover works in on Thursday. High temperatures start to moderate by the time we get to the end of next week. Expect high temperatures to warm into the mid-70s on Wednesday and Thursday, then into the upper 70s near 80° by the end of next week on Friday.

Looking ahead to the start of next weekend for the Labor Day Holiday weekend, we will keep the dry weather in the forecast. Mostly sunny skies can be expected, with high temperatures remaining below average, we’ll head into the upper 70s by Saturday afternoon.
