Calm, dry and warm weather will continue into the holiday in Metro Detroit. With lows in the upper-40s in the Thumb, around 50 degrees in Ann Arbor and South Lyon, and mid-50s in Detroit, it will be a perfect evening for an extended walk or sitting outdoors.
Labor Day
Headed to the Michigan State Fair in Novi; Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly; Hamtramck Labor Day Festival; Romeo Peach Festival; or Arts, Beats & Eats in Royal Oak? Labor Day will deliver great weather.
Overall, Labor Day should be sunny, warm, and dry, which is perfect for events like parades, barbecues, or other outdoor gatherings. Highs will be in the upper-70s.
The UV index will be in the high range. Without sunscreen, fair or sensitive skin could burn in 30 minutes.
Do not forget a hat and sunglasses.
Going on the water on Labor Day? Light easterly winds and mirror-like waves will make for smooth boating. Under sunny skies, waves will be under one foot.
Changes on the Horizon
Rain showers will start arriving Wednesday night and stick around Thursday morning as a cold front sweeps through Southeast Michigan. This front is expected to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures.
This shift to cooler air will be accompanied by breezier and cloudier weather by the end of the week.
The outlook for the second week of September suggests that below-average temperatures are likely to stick around for Metro Detroit and much of the eastern U.S. So, hoodies and jackets will probably be needed.
