Metro Detroit is stepping into one of the most pleasant stretches of September weather. Sunshine, warm afternoons, and mild evenings will dominate.

Clouds will decrease and skies will become mostly clear on Saturday night. Patchy fog is possible near Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, with the wind becoming calm. Temperatures will dip to the mid-50s, making for a cool but comfortable night across Metro Detroit. It is a great evening for outdoor dining, campfire, or enjoying nightlife.

Saturday night’s quiet and comfortable weather will last through most of next week.

Sunday – Game Day

Sunday will be the highlight of the weekend for Lions fans. Anyone tailgating ahead of the 1 p.m. kickoff can expect temperatures in the 60s in the morning. By kickoff, Downtown Detroit will be basking in sunshine with temps in the mid- to upper-70s. Highs will be in the lower-80s.

Sunscreen and hydration are recommended for tailgaters who will be outside for hours, as the sun will be strong. People heading to the Troy Family Daze Festival should also be prepared for the abundant sunshine.

Sunday night, skies will be mostly clear. Expect lows in the upper-50s.

Monday through Thursday

Highs will hold steady in the lower- to mid-80s each afternoon, with nights comfortably mild around 60 degrees. Mostly sunny skies will dominate, with only occasional clouds.

The stretch of dry weather will be ideal for commutes, after-school activities, and outdoor work. However, continued dry weather could further stress lawns and gardens. So, watering may be needed.

Friday into Next Weekend

Friday remains warm. Highs will be in the lower-80s, with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies. By Friday night, a slight chance of showers could sneak into the forecast and the chance sticks around for Saturday. Any rain showers would be isolated or scattered.

Detroit’s weather this week will be about as good as it gets for mid-September.
