Sunshine, summer-like warmth for the end of the weekend in Metro Detroit

The dry weather and above-average temperatures continue into most of next week

4Warn Weather – After just a little bit of sunshine Saturday morning before the clouds rolled in, we saw some rain showers with a weak upper-level disturbance moving through the region, but that will now give way to drier weather looking ahead into the end of the weekend.

High pressure will start to build into the region by the time we get to the end of the weekend on Sunday. Expect sunshine and warmer temperatures as we head into the end of the weekend. High temperatures heading into the 80s once again by Sunday afternoon.

Patchy dense fog is possible into the morning hours on Sunday, so as you’re waking up and heading out the door, do give yourself some extra time to get to your destination. Visibility could be reduced to near zero, so be sure to use your low-beam headlights.

If you’re heading to downtown Detroit for the Detroit Lions game on Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening, we could not ask for a better forecast. Expect plenty of sunshine, temperatures into the 70s for tailgating in the morning, and then temperatures into the 80s as we head into kick off early Sunday afternoon.

High pressure will continue to control the forecast for the majority of next week, which means another extended dry period is expected at the end of the forecast. Expect plenty of sunshine each and every day from Monday all the way through Thursday. High temperatures are getting a few degrees warmer each and every day, low to mid 80s to start the week on Monday, warming into the upper 80s by the time we get to Thursday.

By the time we get to the end of the week on Friday, we will bring a little more cloud coverage into the forecast, but as of right now, the forecast looks to remain dry. High temperature is cooling down a bit, dropping into the lower 80s by the time we get to the end of next week.

Expect the clouds to increase as we look ahead into the start of next weekend on Saturday, with rain shower chances returning as well. High temperatures dropping back to more seasonable levels, expect the mid 70s by Saturday afternoon.

Going beyond the seven-day forecast, it looks like the warmer temperatures are going to be sticking around. The Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 Day Temperature Outlook keeps above-average temperatures in play for the entire lower 48 states. Which means we will end summer with summer-like temperatures, and potentially start fall by the end of the month with the above-average temperature sticking around.
