Monday will bring plenty of sunshine and warmth, with highs around 80 degrees and light and variable winds. Nighttime skies will stay mostly clear, with lows in the mid-50s.

Tuesday

The mild and dry pattern continues Tuesday, with highs in the upper-70s, before a cooldown arrives midweek.

Wednesday and Thursday

The first couple of days of October, Wednesday and Thursday, will see highs slipping into the lower-70s. Lows will drop into the upper-40s in some areas and lower-50s elsewhere.

Friday

By Friday, temperatures will rebound into the mid-70s.

Next Weekend

Then, the weekend will stay mild, with highs in the upper-70s to lower-80s. Plan for mostly sunny skies.

Overall, the week ahead looks dry, giving drivers and commuters smooth travel conditions. The weather should not interrupt outdoor activities, offering prime conditions for sports, hiking, and yard work. The only impacts to plan around will be cool mornings and crisp evenings that call for a light jacket. Sunglasses and a hat may also be useful.

Tracking the Tropics

While Michigan enjoys calm skies, the tropics are telling a different story. Tropical Storm Imelda formed Sunday afternoon over The Bahamas with sustained winds of about 40 mph. Forecasts call for Imelda to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane by Tuesday. The system is expected to track offshore of eastern Florida, possibly guided in part by the nearby presence of Hurricane Humberto, which may help nudge it farther out to sea.

Even with an offshore path, gusty winds and rain will impact parts of Florida. Dangerous surf and rip currents are also likely. In good news for Floridians, the updated forecast track has allowed tropical storm watches to be discontinued on Florida’s coast.

Travel to Florida and the Caribbean could be affected as airlines and cruise operators adjust schedules to avoid the storm’s rough seas and shifting track.

For Metro Detroiters, the message is clear: enjoy a stretch of tranquil, dry weather close to home, while keeping an eye on the tropics if travel plans point toward Florida or the Bahamas in the coming days.
