Saturday and Sunday

Sunshine dominates the weekend, with Saturday’s high reaching 86 degrees.

The record for the date is 89 set in 1951, meaning the city will come close.

Sunday stays hot as well, topping out near 85 degrees, just three degrees shy of the 1951 record of 88 degrees.

Light southwest breezes will accompany the warm, summerlike afternoons. Nights will see lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Early Next Week

Monday continues the stretch of warmth with a high of 85 degrees, but Southeast Michigan will see the chance of rain in the evening and nighttime hours.

Lows will be around 60 degrees.

Tuesday will be noticeably cooler, with morning showers and isolated thunderstorms. The chances of rain will dwindle by afternoon.

Conditions could clear out before the Tigers play at Comerica Park in the American League Division Series. Highs will be in the lower 70s. Lows will dip into the upper-40s.

Midweek Shift

By Tuesday night into Wednesday, a strong cold front pushes across the Great Lakes, reinforcing the cooldown.

Highs will drop into the lower 60s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Overnight lows will tumble into the 40s, a reminder that fall is here.

Some parts of the Thumb and the Ann Arbor area could cool into the 30s.

Spotty frost might be a concern in rural and outlying communities.

Late-Week Outlook

Friday rebounds slightly, with highs in the upper 60s, but the overall pattern turns seasonable heading into the weekend.

Skies will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a crisper feel outdoors.

4Warn Impacts

The biggest impact will be the heat. Outdoor workers, athletes, and those attending weekend events should plan for hydration and sun protection, as temperatures are more typical of midsummer.

The midweek front will also bring a period of unsettled weather, possibly affecting commutes with wet roads.

By the end of the week, Metro Detroit transitions to a truer October feel: cool, crisp, and far from the near-record heat.
