Mild start to week in Metro Detroit before midweek fall chill

Sunday sets the stage for pleasant autumn weather to start the new week. After the morning fog dissipates, expect mostly sunny and calm conditions. Although a jacket or hoodie will be needed in the morning, temperatures will climb into the 60s by noon and peak around 70 degrees in the afternoon. Sunday’s weather will be comfortable for outdoor activities.

Monday, Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day, will feature mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the lower-70s with light easterly winds. Outdoor events and holiday gatherings should enjoy quiet weather, with no rain.

Tuesday will be similar, with highs in the lower-70s, but a cold front will cross Southeast Michigan.

The cooler air behind the cold front will be noticeable on Wednesday. Highs will drop into the lower-60s Wednesday and upper-50s to lower-60s Thursday, with overnight lows dipping into the upper-30s to lower-40s. Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy during this stretch, with a crisp fall feel.

By Friday, temperatures will be in the lower- to mid-60s with partly cloudy skies. A few showers may return late Friday into Saturday.

Saturday looks to be partly sunny with a few rain showers. Highs will rebound to around 70 degrees.

Overall, the week will offer a mix of early fall warmth and late-week coolness.
