DETROIT – It’s snowing Sunday morning in Metro Detroit, but there will be a period of wintry mix before precipitation changes over to snowfall for good.
Sunday morning snow
As expected, the season’s first round of winter weather moved into Metro Detroit on Sunday morning.
Grass was already dusted with snow by the time most Metro Detroiters woke up on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025.
Wintry mix
Late Sunday morning, the snow showers will switch over to a rain-snow mix.
Precipitation fully switches over to snow
Any rain or wintry mixes will switch completely over to snow for the area by late Sunday night. Snow will continue into Monday.
The further north and west you are in Metro Detroit, the more colder air hangs on, which means snow showers will be the primary form of precipitation for a larger chunk of the day.
What actually accumulates on the group won’t be much because the ground is too warm. But it only takes on-tenth of an inch to qualify as “accumulating” snow, and we’re expected to reach that mark, especially as snow continues into Monday.
