Metro Detroit will enjoy an unseasonably warm Saturday before a dramatic turn to colder weather closes out the weekend and ushers in freezing mornings early next week.

Temperatures will surge into the lower-60s across Metro Detroit on Saturday, which will put highs more than 10 degrees above normal for mid-November.

Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Monroe are expected to reach 60 to 63 degrees, with clouds, a warm southwest breeze and occasional gusts around 20 to 25 mph.

Communities across the Thumb will run cooler, with highs closer to the upper-50s to near 60 degrees, including Lapeer, Sandusky and Port Huron, where thicker cloud cover and proximity to Lake Huron will keep temperatures down compared with the metro area.

Most communities will remain dry, but a brief passing sprinkle is possible between 1 p.m. and early evening.

Saturday’s warm air will be especially noticeable for fans heading to East Lansing for the 3:30 p.m. Penn State vs. Michigan State game, where temperatures will sit around 60 degrees with cloudy and breezy conditions.

A stray shower cannot be ruled out, but widespread rain is not expected.

Sunday

A major change arrives Sunday as a strong northwest flow takes over. Highs will fall sharply into the lower- to mid-40s, with brisk winds gusting up to 25–30 mph, making it feel even colder.

Sunshine will return at times, but the cooler air will dominate through next week.

By Sunday night and into early Monday, temperatures will drop below freezing across most of Southeast Michigan. Overnight lows will fall into the mid- to upper-20s, setting up multiple mornings of frost and freezing temperatures.

Monday and Tuesday

Highs on Monday and Tuesday will only reach the lower to mid-40s. Temperatures will slowly moderate into midweek.
