DETROIT – A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for today due to possible travel concerns this morning with worsening conditions into the afternoon drive.
Many side streets and residential roads remain snow-covered from Wednesday. With additional snow and temperatures near freezing this afternoon, we could see a bit of wet/slushy snow, which could refreeze tonight as temperatures drop leading to icy patches, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.
We are waking up to single digit wind chills. It will be milder today (seasonal) with highs near the freezing mark. An additional 1-3 inches of snowfall is expected by this evening. We will have few light rounds this morning, but the more widespread, steady snow will arrive just before noon and last through the afternoon.
Turning colder Saturday and Sunday with additional scattered lake effect snow showers. Widespread light snowfall likely Sunday night into Monday morning. Frigid and blustery conditions build in on MLK Day through Wednesday with wind chills holding near or below zero and additional snow showers. Dangerously cold wind chills near 15 degrees below zero will be possible Tuesday morning.
