Metro Detroit weather: Tracking rain and snow showers
Good Tuesday morning! The Monday showers moved out and some residual clouds are still moving across our skies without the threat of wet weather early on this Tuesday morning. Most of Metro Detroit is covered in temperatures near 40 degrees with a few spots dipping down into the upper 30s under mostly cloudy skies south to partly cloudy skies over most of our area. There is a slight breeze, and the wind chills as you head out and about from sunrise through about 8-9 a.m. will be in the lower 30s which means the thicker coat if you’re out walking the dog or waiting for that bus.

Snow, who started at both nickelback and safety last year, spent the spring learning to play linebacker. They also added a pair of veteran linebackers in Windmon (UNLV) and Aaron Brule (Mississippi State) from the transfer portal. “Brule’s a good player and he’s had a really good spring,” Tucker said. mlive.comMetro Detroit weather: Waiting for wintry weather before we warm
We have had some scattered rain and snow showers here in Metro Detroit overnight and the roads are a little bit slippery in spots as temperatures slowly drop from the mid to lower 30s near freezing as you head out and about. There is also a breeze that will be picking up keeping wind chills in the 20s making it another day for the winter coat, hats, and gloves if you plan on spending any time outdoors catching a bus or walking the dog… bundle up! A few spotty rain and snow showers are still moving through Metro Detroit this morning which will make for some slick spots on the roads in those spots that see a little wintry weather. These mainly snow showers will be hit or miss as you hit the roads.

Metro Detroit weather: Rain and snow showers to start the week
Good Monday morning! Storm Tracker 4 is keeping a close eye and handle on rain and snow showers moving closer and closer to Metro Detroit but we start the early morning hours on the dry side with mid 30s as you head out with a lighter wind SE 5-10mph which will pick up later today. The timing is everything for the wet weather because it’s cool enough over SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario for some snow to mix with rain in the leading edge of the Monday showers. Expect a rain/snow mix by about 6 a.m. switching to rain later in the morning and this could be mainly rain for some as it moves through here. Snow will want to stick to your car, to grassy surfaces, but it will struggle to stick to the streets especially with most of our area near or above freezing. Parts of our West and South Zones may get into the action before 6 a.m., but most of us see more trouble coming around or just after 6 a.m., as the mix will be trending to the rain category with snow showers likely lingering north of M 59.
Metro Detroit weather: A frigid Monday, but change is on the way
While there are a few lake enhanced snow showers out there today, most of our day is looking dry and pretty bright with sunshine busting through some of these morning clouds and high temperatures later today will only make it into the lower to maybe middle 30s.
More accumulating snow on the way for most of us Michiganders
Colder air and a few several-hour bursts of snow are on the way for just about everyone in Lower Michigan. Lake-effect snow isn’t as common in spring because don’t often get cold enough aloft to create the lake-effect process. And usually the eastern half of the state ignores the snow forecast when it’s lake-effect snow. The snow bands only make it into eastern Michigan in a meaningful way once or twice a winter. Each burst of snow could last three to six hours, especially the burst of snow tonight and Saturday.

The lost ship of Ernest Shackleton, the British-Irish polar explorer who attempted and failed to become the first person to cross Antarctica via the South Pole between 1914 and 1916, has been found over a century after it sank due to Antarctic ice. The wooden vessel, called Endurance, was lost in November 1915 after it was crushed by ice and eventually sank, according to the Associated Press. In an interesting coincidence, according to British historian and broadcaster Dan Snow, who accompanied the expedition to find the ship, said that Endurance was found 100 years to the day Shackleton was buried. Commenting on the weather, he stated that astronomical conditions accounted for the mild winter along the Atlantic coast. (AP Photo)APMiraculously, Shackleton and every member of the crew survived, the BBC added.
