4Warn Weather – Wednesday across Southeast Michigan featured snow showers but high temperatures near normal, in the low 30s.
Thursday will be cooler before we turn even colder for Friday and the weekend.
Due to Arctic air moving in, the National Weather Service in Detroit has issued an Extreme Cold Watch from Thursday night through Saturday morning.
There is the potential during this time frame for wind chills as low as 25 below zero.
Here’s how the end of the workweek and weekend break down.
Tonight’s temperatures are in the upper teens, with wind chills in the mid-teens.
Thursday
Scattered light snow moves through overnight and into Thursday, with overall totals of a dusting to 2″ possible.
High temperatures on Thursday will be in the low 20s with single-digit wind chills.
Weekend forecast
Temperatures on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning will be near or below 0° as arctic air arrives.
Wind chills Friday and Saturday morning will likely be between -15° and -20°, but could reach -25° at times.
When it’s this cold, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in just half an hour.
Afternoon highs both Friday and Saturday will be in the single digits. Highs on Sunday will be in the teens.
