Metro Detroit gains over an hour of daylight in February

Southeast Michigan will gain over an hour of daylight during the month of February

4Warn Weather - Happy February! We’re starting the month getting back to having ten hours of daylight.

The sun rose this morning at 7:46 a.m. and set this evening at 5:48 p.m., giving Metro Detroit the first day since early November with ten hours of daylight!

Southeast Michigan was fortunate enough to see plenty of sunshine to kick off the month, too. After a sun-filled afternoon, this was the sky at 6:30 p.m. tonight showcasing the tail end of the sunset.

Each day in February Metro Detroit will add at least two minutes of daylight.

By February 12th the sun won’t set until 6:00 p.m.

By February 28th, we’ll be up to over eleven hours a day of daylight.

Winter may not be over yet, but you’ll start to notice it isn’t quite as dark for the commute and after-work errands don’t feel like a midnight mission.
