Valentine’s Day plans across Southeast Michigan are unfolding under generally quiet weather conditions Saturday night, though patchy freezing fog could develop late at night.

Temperatures will fall from the 30s into the mid- to upper 20s overnight, with calm to light winds. Areas of freezing fog may reduce visibility, particularly in low-lying spots. While most roads remain dry, untreated surfaces could develop isolated slick patches.

Sunday

Sunday continues the mild trend, with highs reaching the mid-40s across metro Detroit. The Thumb will stay slightly cooler, generally in the upper 30s to near 40. Morning fog may linger. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny.

Presidents’ Day

Monday’s high temperatures will be similar. Many students and federal workers observing Presidents’ Day will experience highs in the mid-40s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Light southwest winds will keep conditions comfortable for outdoor plans.

Looking ahead

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the mid-40s.

The warmest day of the stretch is expected Wednesday, when temperatures climb into the mid-50s across much of Southeast Michigan, with some areas near the Ohio border approaching 60 degrees.

Rain becomes likely Tuesday night and continues into Wednesday morning. Current indications suggest a rain event for Metro Detroit, while areas of the Thumb could briefly see wet snowflakes mixing in. The milder pattern eases late week as cooler air returns Thursday night into Friday. Another system may bring additional precipitation with a chance of rain and snow Thursday and Friday.
