Rain, snow, falling temperatures, and high winds are all in the forecast to start the week in Metro Detroit

Windy conditions continue through Monday while Southeast Michigan will see rain tonight transition to snow tomorrow

4Warn Weather - A strong low pressure system moving across the state tonight into tomorrow will bring multiple kinds of weather to the region.

WIND

A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until midnight Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Winds will remain high at 20-30 mph overnight and through Monday, shifting from the south and southwest to the west and northwest.

50 mph gusts will be possible at times, which can cause tree damage, veer your vehicle while you’re driving, and down power lines.

Winds will decrease to around 15 mph, gusting to the mid 20s, Tuesday.

TEMPERATURES

A shift in wind direction will occur Monday morning as the cold front comes through, opening the door to arctic air.

Some neighborhoods in Southeast Michigan reached the low 70s Sunday afternoon with a brisk southerly wind.

We’ll stay warm into the overnight hours, starting Monday morning near 50 degrees.

Temperatures will fall throughout the day. By Monday afternoon we’ll be in the 30s, and we’ll see more 20s into the evening hours.

Wind chills Monday afternoon will be in the mid 20s.

Tuesday morning temperatures will be in the teens with wind chills near 0 degrees.

PRECIPITATION

Southeast Michigan will see rain overnight and into early Monday morning.

There is the chance for isolated strong storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Southeast Michigan under a Marginal Risk, a level 1 out of 5, for severe weather. So although the chance is small, it’s still there.

Damaging winds will be the main threat with these storms that move in late tonight into early Monday morning.

We’ll get a break mid-morning into midday before lake effect snow showers develop. We could see snow squalls Monday afternoon and evening.

Light accumulation will be possible with any of these snow bands. As winds lighten Monday night snow coverage will diminish.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be drier but chilly. Tuesday’s high temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 20s while Wednesday we’ll stay in the mid 30s.
