4Warn Weather – A powerful cold front is about to make its mark on Metro Detroit.

This evening, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., there is a risk of thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe, especially south of I-94.

All types of severe weather are on the table, but the main concern for most of the area is large hail, possibly over 1″ in diameter (quarter).

There is also an increased risk of isolated tornadoes along the Ohio border.

Then comes the cold!

Overnight lows drop to the upper 20s, leaving us with a brisk and chilly end to the workweek.

Highs on Friday will struggle to reach 40 degrees, with wind chills in the 20s.

I can’t rule out a few stray flurries and/or graupel.

The weekend looks a bit better with some sunshine returning and temps in the 40s Saturday and 50s by Sunday.
