4Warn Weather – Another round of rain and storms is expected across Southeast Michigan today. An extra wave of energy near the Ohio Valley, plus a cold front moving through, will provide the opportunity for isolated strong storms during the afternoon and evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk (yellow, level 2/5) and a Marginal Risk (green, level 1/5) for Southeast Michigan.
Some good news - in the most recent update from the Storm Prediction Center, the threat has decreased a bit for the Bay Region, Northern Thumb, and parts of the I-69 corridor. The 4Warn meteorologists will continue to monitor for further updates for any changes in Metro Detroit.
For now, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the mid-afternoon for Southeast Michigan.
A few storms may become severe, with damaging wind gusts to 60 mph, large hail to 1″ in diameter, heavy downpours, and isolated tornadoes all possible.
The main time frame for strong storms will be between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
We’ll see scattered rain possible overnight into early Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon will feature more sunshine and cooler temperatures with highs in the mid-60s.
