DETROIT - Warmer air is moving in and you can feel it even this morning.
The usual suburbs and parts of Metro Detroit are dipping into the 50s, but more and more 60s as you head out. A mix of sun and layers of clouds through the day and warming into the upper 80s with humidity up just a little bit on your Thursday and if we get enough sunshine we may see a few 90 degree highs around SE Lower Michigan. The winds are light SSW 5-10 mph and shower chances will be increasing in the late afternoon and evening, especially in our North Zone.
Marginal Risk for severe weather
But we should all keep our eyes to the skies as the heat today could spark a few stronger storms. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a Marginal Risk for severe weather. That’s a low risk which means most of us won’t see much in the way of storm activity later today.
Showers and storms are going to be coming and going Friday starting in the morning with some isolated downpours. It will be warm and a little muggy for most of the day in the low and mid 80s with scattered showers and storms. A cold front sweeps through in the afternoon which again will spark more shower chances. That’s the time to watch along that cold front passing for a few stronger storms. The winds will pick up through the afternoon WSW 5-15 mph.
The weekend looks mostly dry with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Those dry conditions include no rain and lower humidity making it feel quite comfortable all weekend. Tons of sun Saturday in the mid to upper 70s, and a few more clouds Sunday with highs flirting with 80 degrees possible. But showers and storms may move in by dinner time on Sunday from north to south, but the better chance will be on Monday. You can track radar and stay ahead of the showers and storms with our Local4Casters app.
