Cooler with heavy morning rain in Metro Detroit

DETROIT – Rain will be picking up through the morning with a large area of wet weather moving west to east into Metro Detroit, and this will make your morning drive difficult.

Some areas of heavy rain will create pooling, ponding, hydroplaning etc. -- so plan on some extra time as you head out, grab the jacket, and umbrella to be set for a wet, windy, and cool day. Temps will be in the 50s most of the day as they are this morning, and the winds will be picking up NE 8-18 gusting 20-30 mph through the afternoon. Showers become a lot lighter and more scattered through the mid and late afternoon as showers try to exit. A few light showers or areas of drizzle still possible this evening.

We won’t likely see a lot of sun Thursday as we stay on the cool side but very October-like. Morning lows in the 40s and then highs only in the low and mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies. We will see a few showers coming and going but it will be very scattered and shouldn’t get in your way any more than an occasional 10 minute shower in the afternoon.

Friday will begin a brief warm stretch with partly cloudy to partly sunny skies and highs back in the low 70s.  Saturday is very much up in the air with a cool front moving from north to south bringing shower chances into the afternoon and evening. Highs should hit the mid 70s or warmer before the clouds fill in and shower chances begin. We need to keep that in mind while planning anything outside during the second half of Saturday. The front will stall out and continue to bring shower chances Sunday around Metro Detroit. Right now, the models are on the dry side in the morning for the Marathon Downtown Detroit. More temps around 50 degrees with highs in the low 70s and better chances for showers into the afternoon again… stay tuned!
