Weather forecast: Isolated showers, 80s and changes coming in SE Michigan

DETROIT – It’s moving day in the weather department here in Metro Detroit as a cold front slides through our area this morning.

That front is trying to bring a few isolated showers, but the moisture is very limited. The temperature drop will be the bigger story on this Wednesday, and a welcome change for many of us. It’s a slow drop today as highs will still manage to hit near 80 degrees under a mix of sun and clouds. The winds pick up along and behind the cold front today NW 5-15 mph gusting over 20 mph from time to time.

Change Thursday, Friday

You will really feel the change Thursday and Friday as the core of the cooler air from the west and north settles in through the weekend. We will start tomorrow with lows at or below 50 degrees, and then only upper 60s to near 70 degrees for highs. Cloud cover is still questionable as some cloud cover will try to drift in from Lake Michigan and may bring only partly sunny skies at times Thursday.

Friday morning starts in the 40s to low 50s and we may get some scattered showers through the morning and middle of the day. Right now, model data keeps most of the rain showers south and east of SE Lower Michigan.

Still, expect scattered showers for the first part of Friday and then partly sunny skies and highs only in the upper 60s to end the work and school week. The weekend looks very comfy with a mix of sun and clouds and dry air keeping mornings cool and afternoons in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees.
