Metro Detroit weather forecast: 50s and foggy Tuesday morning with afternoon rain

DETROIT – The cold front that brought strong storms to the area Monday evening will deliver cooler air to Metro Detroit throughout your Tuesday.

That means the kids head back to school with temps in the 50s around most of the area with patchy fog, so be extra careful driving around especially rural areas where fog will be a bit thicker. Partly sunny skies with morning showers across Central and Northern Lower Michigan.

A few showers will sneak into SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario after lunch this afternoon. These will be spotty, light showers coming and going mainly between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. as highs only hit the upper 60s to low 70s with winds W 5-15 mph.

Wednesday forecast

More shower chances are expected around Metro Detroit on Wednesday and Thursday. Morning low temperatures will be dropping into the upper 40s for most midweek, and highs only in the mid 60s Wednesday and Thursday. The theme will be cool with scattered light showers which may leak into Friday morning before clearing.

So, look for skies to clear up mid morning Friday with afternoon sun trying to bring Metro Detroit highs back to 70 degrees. We may fall just short, but look for a little warm up as we head into the weekend expecting low 70s and tons of sunshine both weekend days.
