Marginal risk for severe weather Thursday afternoon in SE Michigan

Warm, extremely muggy day

DETROITA round of morning rain and isolated thundershowers will move quickly through Metro Detroit and will likely slow down your morning drive in spots.

Temps are very warm and extremely muggy today. Highs in the upper 80s with a mix of hazy sun and clouds through the early afternoon. The heat index or "feels like" temperatures will be in the mid 90s if not warmer.

All of that heat and humidity will make things very unstable today and we have a Marginal Risk for severe weather later this afternoon -- we've been downgraded from Slight to Marginal. It will be very difficult to know exactly when and where the storms will start firing so, keep an eye to the sky and know these storms may produce damaging wind and hail.

Severe weather risk continues into weekend

The risk for severe weather will continue Friday and Saturday for all of us around SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. The humidity will be down a bit tomorrow and moisture for Friday is a bit more limited. So, expect scattered strong storms tomorrow afternoon in a few spots but not very widespread as highs get into the mid 80s. The heaviest rain ahead looks to be late, late Friday into early Saturday.
