Defending national champion Michigan basketball to play exhibition games in Europe

Michigan will also receive 10 additional preseason practices allowed under NCAA rules for foreign tours

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The reigning, defending 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament national champions, the Michigan Wolverines, have announced an exhibition tour in Lithuania and Croatia ahead of the regular season.

University of Michigan men’s basketball coach Dusty May announced Monday that the Wolverines will travel to Lithuania and Croatia in August for a nine-day foreign exhibition tour ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The trip, scheduled for Aug. 21-29, will be organized through Complete Sports Management and will include three exhibition games, practices, and team-building activities in both countries.

Michigan will also receive 10 additional preseason practices allowed under NCAA rules for foreign tours.

The Wolverines are scheduled to open the tour Aug. 23 against the Lithuanian men’s national basketball team, followed by a game against the Lithuanian B Team the following day.

Michigan will then travel to Croatia and conclude the tour Aug. 27 against KK Mega Superbet.

The tour marks Michigan basketball’s fourth foreign trip since 2010.

Previous overseas tours included stops in Belgium in 2010, Italy in 2014, Spain in 2018, and France and Greece in 2022.

According to the university, the trip is being funded by private supporters through the U-M Athletic Development department.

  • Aug. 21: Arrive in Lithuania
  • Aug. 22: Practice/open day in Lithuania
  • Aug. 23: Game vs. Lithuanian men’s national team
  • Aug. 24: Game vs. Lithuania B Team
  • Aug. 25: Travel to Croatia
  • Aug. 26: Practice/open day
  • Aug. 27: Game vs. KK Mega Superbet (Serbia)
  • Aug. 28: Open day
  • Aug. 29: Return to the United States
