DAP currently serves 44 individuals with support and employment opportunities.

28 of the 44 people currently receiving assistance with DAP earn a paycheck, but will be out a job when the program closes its doors.

Jobs range from rolling silverware for local restaurants to housekeeping work to recycling paper for smaller businesses and city buildings.

11 DAP staff members will also lose their jobs.

MAP has given the Downriver Ability Project an end date of April 30, 2012.

The current director for DAP is attempting to keep the program up and running as an individual entity. Current program director Sandi Mullican says she has a commitment from Community Living Services to continue its current contract and believes revenue from that will be enough to keep the program alive, but donations are also needed.
