Here are some of the events taking place between Aug. 30 and Sept. 4 this year:

Detroit Jazz Festival 9/1 - 9/4

For nearly 40 years, the Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation has celebrated Detroit’s rich history of jazz music by providing year-round concerts and educational programming, and of course, organizing the world’s largest free jazz festival over Labor Day weekend.

Arts, Beats & Eats! 9/1 - 9/4 (Royal Oak)

The 20th Annual Ford Arts, Beats & Eats presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort takes place in Downtown Royal Oak. The festival offers more than 200 performances on nine stages, a highly ranked Juried Fine Arts Show, and local restaurants with some of the finest cuisine in Metro-Detroit. Each year international, regional and local attractions at the festival make the City of Royal Oak the premier destination for Labor Day weekend.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival 9/2 - 9/4

Welcome to the city of Hamtramck. For the past three decades we've celebrated Labor Day weekend with a festival on the Main Street of Joseph Campau, and the only difference for 2017 is that it will be better than ever This year's festival is being sponsored by HATCH This year's celebration features the yacht races down Jos. Campau (a Hamtramck tradition), the Golab-K 5K run, and an assortment of crowd-pleasing events for kids and adults of all ages.

Michigan State Fair 8/31 - 9/4 (Novi)

The Michigan State Fair is an annual grand celebration of the thriving Agricultural Industry in our great state! With Southeast Michigan's largest Carnival Midway, the Detroit Shine Circus, Equestrian Pavilion, State Fair Superstar talent contest, plus much more fun for the entire family!

Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk 9/4

There are going to be some changes to the 2017 Annual Bridge Walk that will be taking place on Monday, September 4, 2017.  For safety and security, the bridge will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to noon to all vehicle traffic except official walk shuttle buses and emergency vehicles. While there is NO FEE or registration to participate in the walk, virtually all participants will have to take the bus transportation that we set up for the event.

Romeo Peach Festival 8/31 - 9/4

The Michigan Peach Festival of Romeo is the second oldest festival in the state. Our young Village President, Edward E. Jacob along with the orchards in the area felt the need to promote the economic growth of the area. Every Labor Day weekend, Romeo hosts many events based around its prized crop, the peach. Events include parades, bed races, craft shows, and much much more. It’s fun for the whole family.

Thunder Over Michigan - Blue Angels 9/2 - 9/4 (Ypsilanti)

The Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's Flight demonstration team, began in 1946 near the end of World War II because of a desire to keep the public interested in Naval Aviation. In June 1946, the Blue Angels performed for the first time at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. Over the years the Blue Angels have added to their performance and updated their aircraft, and remain an important staple to air shows. 

Michigan Renaissance Festival (Holly)

Inside our turreted gates, visitors enjoy the sights and sounds of a 17-acre village, complete with building reproductions of Renaissance shops, taverns and a magnificent castle. Continuous entertainment takes place on the streets and on 17 themed stages; featuring full-contact armored jousting, comedy and theater shows, music, games, people-powered rides and so much more! Fabulous food and more than 300 artisans displaying their gallery-quality works complete the experience!

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians/Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park

The Tigers will play the Indians in Detroit on Sept. 1 - Sept. 3. The Royals will come to town on Sept. 4, Labor Day.

U2 The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 at Ford Field 9/3

The tour will then relaunch in North America September 3rd with a return to Detroit – the city where U2 first played a headline stadium show back on April 30th, 1987 at the Silverdome on the original Joshua Tree Tour. An anniversary edition of the The Joshua Tree was just released by Interscope Records on June 2. Alongside the 11-track album, the super deluxe collector’s edition includes a live recording of The Joshua Tree Tour 1987 Madison Square Garden concert; rarities and B-sides from the album’s original recording sessions; as well as 2017 remixes from Daniel Lanois, St Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Steve Lillywhite and Flood; plus an 84-page hardback book of unseen personal photography shot by The Edge during the original Mojave Desert photo session in 1986.

107th Dickson County Fair 8/31 - 8/4 (Norway)

The Dickinson County Fair is held at the Dickinson County Fair Grounds located in Norway, Michigan. Our event is held annually during the Labor Day Weekend. We feature livestock judging and a market animal sale. Skerbeck Brothers is our great rides amusement company. We feature the Local Stock Car Race. A Demo Derby is also held. There are daily midway entertainments going on at all times, a country music free concert, children’s face painting and other events. We have many animal displays such as livestock, beef, swine, poultry, rabbits and dairy. Our 107th Anniversary is fast approaching as we will be celebrating it in the year 2017. We will be bringing back nostalgia from the past at that event. 

Muskegon Polish Festival 9/1 - 9/3

The second annual Muskegon Polish Festival will take place over Labor Day weekend September 1-3 at historic Hackley Park in Downtown Muskegon! This 3-day festival will offer Polish food polka music dancing cultural activities a children's tent a Catholic mass and much more. 

HarmonyFest 9/3 (Three Rivers)

HarmonyFest is a family friendly music and entertainment event going on it's 24th year. Occurring Sunday of Labor Day weekend, the streets are closed in Historic Downtown Three Rivers for musical acts, kids activities, and a beer garden featuring local craft beer and cider sections.

Overnight Family Campout 9/2 - 9/3 (Detroit)

Join us for the FIRST EVER campout at the Outdoor Adventure Center! Learn how to pitch a tent, build a campfire, and roast marshmallows. Fun for the entire family! Make sure to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow as well. Rainy day campout will be inside of the Outdoor Adventure Center.

Baraga Days 2017 9/2 - 9/3 (Grand Rapids)

Baraga Days is an annual commemoration and celebration of Bishop Frederic Baraga, a legendary figure in the history of northern Michigan and a pioneer of the American Catholic Church. He was the first bishop of the Diocese of Marquette, comprising the entire Upper Penninsula of northern Michigan. 

John Mayer at DTE Energy Music Theatre 9/1 (Clarkston)

John Mayer bring his Search for Everything World Tour with Dawes to DTE Energy Music Theatre on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m.

St. Joseph Festival 9/1 - 9/3
