DETROIT – A cookie supplier for Gordon Food Service is sounding the alarm about a risk to people with walnut allergies after a packaging mix-up.
Best Maid Cookie Company of River Falls, Wis., is recalling two lines of cookies.

The cookie recall involved Sienna Bakery Oatmeal Walnut Raisin and Sienna Bakery White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies. The Best Maid Cookie company said cookies containing walnuts may have been mistakenly packed into other boxes without proper labeling.
Cookies Sold in Many States, Including Michigan
The affected cookies were sold through GFS Marketplace stores from May 11 through June 7 in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
The cookies were also distributed to Gordon Food Service customers on those dates in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, according to the news release.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," Best Maid officials said in their news release issued through the Food and Drug Administration.
Gordon Foods spokeswoman Deb Abraham said one of their customers notified them of the packaging mix-up last week. Up to 117 cases of the cookies may be affected, she said.

The UPC code for the Oatmeal Walnut Raisin cookies is 093901165992. The UPC code for the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies is 093901201706. Consumers who do not wish to use the cookies due to allergy or sensitivity concerns should destroy them and keep the product container to verify a credit is due, the company said.
