Ever considered a last-minute Mother’s Day weekend getaway? 5 things to look for in a destination

Help mom experience mind, body and soul this holiday

Mother’s Day is just two days away -- so why not celebrate it for more than one day?

On Friday on “Live in the D,” we highlighted a special getaway as part of our “4 Moms Week” contest.

All week, our viewers had a chance to win prizes valued at $500, and it’s made possible by our sponsors.

Friday’s sponsor, Crystal Mountain, is giving away a $500 gift card to the resort, which offers all kinds of ways for moms to enjoy that “me time” that so many request.

Sammie Lukaskiewicz, vice president of marketing and communications of Crystal Mountain, joined Michelle Oliver to share more.

Here are five elements to look for in that next weekend getaway:

1. Incredible weather

People may hear “Crystal Mountain” and think of skiing and winter sports.

However, Lukaskiewicz said, outside the winter season, this is a place that offers amazing Northern Michigan weather.

2. An overall experience

Lukaskiewicz said when you think about Mother’s Day as it relates to a destination, our minds go to certain elements.

She added, at Crystal Mountain, it’s truly an experience -- and moms are able to make special memories with their families.

3. A place for mind, body and soul

Lukaskiewicz said the resort is the perfect destination for moms to experience mind, body, and soul this Mother’s Day. She said you can walk through the art park, golf, hike, or bike through the resort areas on their 1,500 acres.

Take in the fresh air! Mom will love it.

4. A spa might be nice

The resort also has a spa, and Lukaskiewicz said they have spa days going on right now.

Crystal offers massages and body treatments to treat mom’s mind and soul. Lukaskiewicz added that every service includes access to the relaxation lounge, sauna, steam rooms, and a signature line of spa products.

5. Brunch

On Mother’s Day, they will be having brunch, as well, Lukaskiewicz said.

Who doesn’t love starting the day with a solid meal?

Then mom can check out nearby wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and even streams, in case any moms like to fish.
