Metro Detroit native Erica Peeples stars in popular play

The gospel play Perilous Times, which has been in production for two decades, is returning to the Fisher Theatre. Playwright and director TJ Hemphill and actress Erica Peeples joined Tati Amare and co-guest host Hobie Artigue on “Live in the D” to share what the play is about.

The play, Perilous Times is about a young man from a dysfunctional family who gets trapped in biblical times. Hemphill said that the main character undergoes a change and finds himself in a situation where he is confronted by hip hop angels who take him on a lifechanging journey.

Peeples is known for her role on the Netflix series All American. She said that she saw the play Perilous Times when she was a kid. “This play changed my life; it changed the trajectory of my career. Actually, it made me really want to engage in theatre and it just touched my heart from a spiritual place”, said Peeples.
