Keep your pets warm this winter

It’s time to get your furry friend a coat or sweater!

When the weather gets colder we all grab our coats, but are you bundling up your pets when you go for a walk?

Anna Chrisman with Michigan Humane shared some advice on what pet parents should be thinking about when it comes to winter walks with furry friends. She suggests having pets wear a sweater or coat, especially if they have short fur or are sick or elderly. When you get home, be sure to remove wet outerwear immediately. After a walk, you should also dry your pet’s paws and check for debris like ice melt or sand, explained Chrisman.

The Michigan Humane also has an adorable 5-month-old puppy named Nirvana who is looking for her forever home. Watch the video above to meet Nirvana.
