Are you ready to build your own brand?
Brand strategist Robert Courtney appeared on “Live In The D” to share some advice. He is the author of a new book titled Branding 4 Beginners. Courtney explained that he was inspired to write the book after he says he went through a journey of trying to build his own brand and felt that there’s wasn’t anywhere for him to find practical information that he could easily apply.
“I always said to myself if I get in a position where I can help others who are on that same path, I want to leave them with something that they can use and they can apply to help them build their brands,” Courtney said.
Courtney calls his book a “basic, practical guide to starting a brand.” Branding 4 Beginners is a workbook that uses Courtney’s journey as an example.
Courtney stresses the importance of leaning into your personal story and using it to create content for your brand. When it comes to social media, he suggests selecting a couple of platforms to start and to not overwhelm yourself. He encourages using trial by error. The brand strategist said to start posting and analyzing those posts. For small businesses, Courtney breaks social media into three components, which are community, content, and consistency.
